Buck held various positions as an organist and choirmaster throughout his career, including at Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn and Plymouth Congregational Church in Brooklyn.

"Christ Our Passover" Op. 29 is one of Buck's sacred works, composed around 1884. It is a Romantic-style anthem and is known for its expressive and uplifting melodies.
