The Last Room on the Register

A dead woman's name. A room that no longer exists. One signature Iris Marlow cannot take back.

Eighteen years ago, Iris signed the form declaring the Seaborne Hotel's rear annex empty. That night, a housekeeper died in a fire. Iris has spent most of her adult life trusting the explanation she was given.

Now she has returned to close the hotel for good. At reception, a photographer writes the dead woman's name in the guest register—and offers Iris a picture that could dismantle everything she remembers.

By the end of the evening, he is dead on the service stairs.

The hotel owner wants the past left alone. Her son has kept his father's letters. The dead housekeeper's daughter has come for answers nobody has ever been willing to give her. And someone upstairs heard the photographer speaking after he may already have been killed.

As the last guests leave, Iris must work out which details she witnessed, which she was taught to believe, and what someone will do to keep those two things confused.

A complete coastal suspense novel about family loyalty, a carefully managed tragedy, and the cost of putting your name to a lie.
