It is officially spring here, where I live. And spring is the time for changes, hope, growth and joy. Not just the weather but also what is going on around me has definitely an effect on my knitting. Naturally, I seek my daily dose of comfort and peace through my crafting. Does that happen to you too?

I had the opportunity to work with Eden Cottage Yarns for this design. Their Keld Fingering is a linen-blend yarn that is rustic yet smooth and has been dyed in some beautiful and subtle colors.

I decided to make a shawl with huge garter sections that are lined with tiny bobble stripes. Somehow, the yarn’s texture, colors and these stitch choices turned into a comforting joyous recipe for me at that time in my life.
As I watched the bobbles being formed one by one, they looked like a bed of tiny roses to me. Hence the name. :)

My sample is knit using Bark and Heather color ways.

Rose Bed Shawl is a 2-color shawl worked from the top-down, with its body worked mainly in garter stitch short row wedges. The wedges get stacked slowly, giving the shawl a pleasing crescent shape.

Eyelets and bobbles help break the monotony of garter and also highlight the wedges beautifully. A simple mesh border finishes off the shawl into a light and drapey accessory for your wardrobe.
