This how to guide is perfect for expectant mums who want to avoid induction and have a natural labour and birth.
38 weeks pregnant, heavy, uncomfortable. Keen to meet my baby. Hoping for a natural birth. Looking online for answers…what did that twinge mean? Was that a sign of impending labour?
This was me.
My baby couldn’t come soon enough.
Being a Reflexologist I started to play around with the reflexes I knew I should press to induce labour.
Four days later I had given birth to my beautiful baby girl.
Wow.
I’d surprised myself.
Well, Reflexology had surprised me.
Despite them being the same reflexes I’d worked on on dozens of clients in the same position, it was somehow different having worked on myself. It felt POWERFUL.
I was amazed and was keen to tell my story to my friends and clients.
A few years later, pregnant again I was certain that I would do the same again with the Reflexology and that I would give birth two weeks early like I had the first time.
My baby had different ideas.
My due date came and went and I was feeling slightly annoyed. Why hasn’t it happened the same this time??
I realised that I was so focused on when the baby wasn’t coming (and had been throughout my pregnancy) that all I was doing was delaying the birth.
So I decided to accept the uncertainty and focus on what I did want and I wrote it all down: A quick labour, a natural birth, a healthy baby, to spend as much time at home as I could before going to the birth centre. I zoned in on every detail including when my waters would break and what the room would be like. Basically, my perfect birth.
I went into labour the next day and gave birth to my son after only a four hour labour and a water birth.
A few weeks later I found what I had written down about my perfect birth and no word of a lie it had happened exactly as I had written it. Word for word it had come to life.
That blew me away.
It was such a great feeling of control that we often lose sight of in labour and birth. We can feel as though it is something that is happening to us and we are powerless. But I realised if you can lean into the uncertainty, the pain, the experience that is where you find the greatest strength and control of all.
I have since worked with many women giving them Reflexology to help prepare for labour and I like to show them how to find the right points to press so they can work on their own feet in between our session.
I’ve created this handy how-to guide which I know is going to really help you to prepare for your birth and labour.
Reflexology is a completely safe and natural therapy, which works by pressing on different reflexes on the feet to affect the entire body.
In this easy-to-use guide I will show you:
**Includes a bonus visualisation meditation to help prepare you mentally and emotionally for birth**
‘Bring it on, baby!’ is not only about bringing on labour but about getting into the whole experience. Leaning into it. Leaning into the uncertainty, the discomfort, the not knowing, the control and the power but finding it and bringing it to YOURSELF in a completely different way
