Program Note:

Five Stories by Paula Rego was the first of three commissions by the Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra during my 2017 residency. Inspired by the painter Paula Rego and her museum in Cascais, I created a new musical “exhibition” with promenades and five miniature sound paintings. Each movement reflects the impression a painting left on me — not as a literal retelling, but as a personal musical translation. The piece is written for wind quintet and includes five movements and four promenades, transforming Paula Rego’s visual world into sound through color, texture and expressive contrasts.
