Méliès is a light rectangular wrap with stripes, colourwork, geometric textured and lace sections worked in two contrasting colours.
Short repeats create the different patterned sections : there are intriguing stitches to work but their construction makes the knitting easy to read.
I recommend that you use two contrasting yarns with a lot of drape and a decent stitch defnition, one of which can be lightly speckled. The contrast colour works best as a semi-solid or tonal yarn.

Yarn :
You will need approximately 200g – 732 m / 800 yards of fingering weight yarn in two colours. Sample used 2 full skeins of Black Elephant Merino Singles (100 g - 366 m / 400 yds).

Gauge & Needles :
You will need two sizes of needles : 3,5mm (US 4) and 4mm (US 6).
22 stitches x 30 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches on 3,5 mm (US 4) needles in garter stitch after blocking.
20 stitches x 26 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches on 4 mm (US 6) needles in lace pattern after blocking.

Sizing :
230 cm - 90 1/2 inches long per 42 cm - 16 1⁄2 inches wide. See schematic in the pattern photos.

Details :
Pattern comes with written instructions and charts for the colourwork sections.
The shawl starts and ends in opposing garter stitch points and an I- cord is worked along the edge for a clean border.

Méliès est une étole rectangulaire légère avec des rayures, du jacquard et des textures géométriques tricotée dans deux couleurs contrastantes.
Des répétitions courtes créent les sections en jacquard et texturée : il y a des points intéressants à tricoter mais leur construction rend le tricot facile à lire.
Je conseille de choisir deux laines contrastantes avec beaucoup de drapé et une bonne définition, l’une d’entre elle peut-être légèrement variée ou à speckles. La couleur contrastante ressortira mieux si elle est unie.

Laine :

L’étole commence et se termine en pointe un I-cord est tricoté tout au long de la bordure.
