Fairy Catmother
No speech. No wand. No wings. And a whole lot of attitude.
Always in trouble with her Fairy Godmother Superior, Maven starts her second week on the job with plenty of trepidation. But things go from bad to worse when she discovers her boss has been possessed by an evil witch’s spirit—and the witch promptly transforms Maven into a mundane house cat.
Trapped in a furry body without her voice, her tools, or her magic, Maven is banished to a town where the locals have had nothing but terrible experiences with magic. To break the curse and save the entire realm of Faery before the moon turns, she must do the impossible: grant three wishes to a cynical population that has completely given up on wishing.
How do you grant a happily-ever-after when you can’t even explain who you are?
A Support Group for Broken Fairy Tales
To save the day, Maven will have to navigate a cast of eccentric, grown-up characters who are just trying to survive in a world that makes absolutely no sense:
- The Miller's Daughter: Her brother got the brilliant Puss in Boots; she got left with nothing but bad luck.
- The Son of Jack: He’s living in the shadow of a legendary beanstalk and a father who stole his way out of poverty.
- Baby Bear: All grown up, deeply cynical, and tired of gold-haired home-invaders.
Can Maven trick these stubborn skeptics into admitting the secret wishes they hide in their hearts, rescue her possessed boss, and restore order to Faery? Or will she decide it’s ultimately less stressful to just give up, curl into a ball, and stay a cat?
