Because we had so much fun determining E-fields by integration, we will do another integration herem — this time for the potential. You will recognize that for potentials you do not need to take care of vector components. Yes, I hope you will like potentials. Make sure you take time to set up the integral nicely. And yes, evaluating the integral using a little Vpython program is always a good enhancement ... and there is others.

You basically know this problem from the E-field integration and the force calculation in the midterm. Pictured below is a line of charge with total charge Q which extends from -b to +b along the x axis. What is the electric potential delta V at the point P a distance along the y axis? (no tricky approximations are needed here and the integral is in the back of your book!). What is this delta V that you determined measured relative to?
