AP World History: Modern Units 4–6 Bundle | Transoceanic Interconnections, Revolutions, Imperialism & Migration

Teach three major units of AP World History: Modern with one comprehensive, classroom-ready bundle covering the dramatic global transformations from c. 1450–1900.

This AP World History Units 4–6 Bundle combines three complete resources designed to help students build essential content knowledge while strengthening primary source analysis, historical thinking, evidence-based reasoning, and AP Exam skills.

Three Complete AP World History Units Included

Unit 4: Transoceanic Interconnections, c. 1450–1750

Students investigate maritime exploration, technological innovations, the growth of maritime empires, the Columbian Exchange, mercantilism, colonial labor systems, global trade networks, and the development of an increasingly interconnected world.

Unit 5: Revolutions, c. 1750–1900

Students explore the Enlightenment, Atlantic Revolutions, nationalism, industrialization, changing economic systems, political ideologies, social transformations, and revolutionary movements that reshaped the modern world.

Unit 6: Industrialization, Imperialism, Migration & Resistance, c. 1750–1900

Students examine the relationship between industrialization and imperial expansion, economic imperialism, indigenous resistance, global migration and labor systems, and the political and economic transformations of Africa and Asia.

Unit 6, for example, examines how industrialization increased competition for raw materials, overseas markets, strategic territory, and political influence and contributed to the rise of New Imperialism.

What’s Included Across the Bundle

Students work with a variety of activities designed to move beyond memorization and develop the analytical skills required in an AP World History classroom, including engaging historical readings, vocabulary in context, primary source analyses, historical thinking activities, timelines and historical evidence activities, SAQ practice, LEQ practice, AP Exam Connection activities, rubrics, answer keys, and sample responses.

The resources emphasize AP historical reasoning skills such as causation, comparison, continuity and change over time (CCOT), contextualization, sourcing, claims and evidence, and argument development.

Primary Sources + Historical Thinking

Students don’t simply read about history—they analyze it.

Across Units 4–6, students encounter historically significant sources and perspectives connected to European exploration, colonialism, revolution, industrialization, imperialism, economic expansion, migration, and resistance.

For example, Unit 6 includes analysis of Rudyard Kipling’s The White Man’s Burden, asking students to consider sourcing, historical context, point of view, intended audience, and the ideological justifications used to support nineteenth-century imperialism.

Built for AP World History Exam Preparation

The bundle intentionally connects historical content to AP-style thinking and writing.

Students practice analyzing evidence, explaining historical relationships, developing defensible claims, and applying their knowledge through SAQs, LEQs, historical-reasoning activities, and AP Exam Connection practice.

Unit 6’s AP Connection, for example, asks students to connect industrialization to the Berlin Conference and Scramble for Africa, identify economic imperialism through spheres of influence in China, analyze indigenous resistance, and explain how imperialism transformed societies.

Flexible for Your Classroom

Use the three resources sequentially as a substantial Units 4–6 instructional sequence, or select individual readings and activities to supplement your existing AP World History curriculum.

Ideal for whole-class instruction, independent practice, small groups, homework, review, intervention, enrichment, test preparation, and AP Exam review.

Instead of piecing together disconnected worksheets, this bundle gives you a cohesive set of resources designed to help students read, analyze, think historically, make connections, and prepare for the AP World History exam.

Save by purchasing Units 4–6 together instead of purchasing each complete unit separately.
