PMDD in Practice

An On Demand Training with Ashley Barrett, LMFT

PMDD Is More Than A Difficult Week

PMDD follows a cycle, but its effects can reach into every part of a person’s life. Symptoms may change how someone feels about themselves, connects with loved ones, manages daily responsibilities, and experiences safety.

A client may feel grounded and connected one week, then overwhelmed, irritable, or hopeless the next. The people around them may struggle to understand the shift—and the client may struggle to explain it.

Understanding the pattern helps clinicians look beyond isolated symptoms. It opens the door to thoughtful assessment, collaborative treatment, and support for the relationships and family systems affected by PMDD.
