The Winter Blues: a common ailment many of us suffer from, usually by mid-January once the holiday hangover subsides. Symptoms include irritation related to gloomy, cold weather and daydreams of warmer days. When I was younger I created a unique remedy for The Winter Blues. I would get in my car in summer clothes, crank the heat, and drive around listening (read: dancing) to The Beach Boys. It didn’t banish winter, but it sure made me feel better! The Kokomo Shawl was inspired by my car dancing to Beach Boys songs, dreaming of sun and sand. This classic triangular shawl features palm fronds created through crossed stitches, a unique shell stitch on a garter background, and lacy waves tied together with a mosaic colorwork riptide motif.
