The bells have tolled thrice. On the Longest Night, King Krampus stands to wear the crown that was never his and become the winter forever. This is the last night it can be stopped.

The Gnashing Court is a Krampus one-shot for fifth edition, an epic, baroque finale built to run in a single evening with zero prep. Your table breaches the King's own seat, a court of teeth and bells and courtesy stretched over hunger, on the night of his coronation. The Court is four gates and a throne, each gate kept by a vassal who hates the others more than they fear the party, because the King feeds their rivalry to keep them small. Reach the throne before the last bell finishes, and decide what the winter becomes.

One clock runs the whole book. The Coronation Bell tolls toward the crowning, and when it lands the throne hardens to its worst case, so every scene is a choice between speed and safety. There are two roads through the gates: breach them head-on, fast and loud, or carry one vassal's grievance to another and set the Court warring so the gates open while its keepers fight. Both reach the same throne on the same night. It ends on a real choice with no wrong answer: honor the throne's Banes and put King Krampus down for good, bind him back into the chain as a leash rather than a mend, or reforge the chain and give the guardian beneath the crown its ending. Destroy, Contain, or Reforged, and every link the party has carried is spent here.

What makes it land is the reveal waiting at the third gate, the thing the whole quartet was walking toward, and it should hit like the floor going out. This is the room with the throne that the first three only named, and it pays off the whole series for a table that has played them.

Part of Krampus: A Yuletide Quartet. The Gnashing Court is Book Four, the finale, of four standalone midwinter one-shots that tell one larger story across four winters: Book One, The First Frost; Book Two, The Naughty List; Book Three, The Silence Yet to Come; and Book Four, The Gnashing Court. Each stands completely on its own and plays in any order, so you never need the others to run this night. A warm chain-link passes from book to book, and a table that plays all four watches a single old debt come due.
