Structure: The lesson resources online are in twelve parts: six main parts and six additional parts. The teaching notes follow this structure too.
Themes: The earlier parts of the module focus on minimalism in the arts, and the later parts relate to minimalism in the workplace and home. There are numerous discussion topics, listening and reading activities, and vocabulary activities centring around these themes.
Target language: Describing music; lexis for describing minimalist and maximalist design; describing social change. There is scope also for a range of emergent language to be taught via the speaking activities.
Language the students need to have already: An all-round C1 level including reading and listening skills characteristic of a C1 learner.
Suitability: Optimised for online general English group classes. Equally suitable for adults or older teenagers. With minimal amendments, this resource can also be used with one-to-one students and with offline classes.
