Multiplying Decimals Around the Clock Partner Activity | Decimal Operations Scavenger Hunt
Multiplying Decimals Around the Clock Partner Activity gives students a collaborative way to practice multiplying decimals while working through a self-checking scavenger hunt format. Students work with a partner to solve decimal multiplication problems, compare answers, check their work, and move around the clock until all problems are placed correctly.
Each partner has their own clock with 12 unique problems. The problems are different for each partner, but the answers and clock placement are the same. This allows students to work independently while still being able to compare answers, discuss mistakes, and help each other when needed.
Students begin with the problem marked by a star and glue it to the 12 o’clock spot. After solving, they find the answer at the top of another problem card and glue that card to the 1 o’clock spot. Students continue solving and matching until they move around the clock and return back to the 12 o’clock spot.
The activity is self-checking because students must follow the correct answer path around the clock. If an answer does not lead to the next correct problem, students know they need to go back, check their work, and find the mistake.
This print-ready activity works well for partner practice, math centers, review days, homework alternatives, sub plans, or extra practice with multiplying decimals.
