This pattern combines a love of the fall season with a love of colorwork. You’ll find a selection of four different motifs: spiders, a vertical decorative design suitable for variegated yarns, a jack-o-lantern with a fun all-over skull and crossbones design on the back, and a not-too-scary haunted village.

Choose from a round top, like the one pictured here, or a steeper top, creating a more oblong pumpkin.

Enjoy making these colorful, cheerful, and full-of-fall pumpkins for your home.

Skills Needed: Working with two colors, working in the round, reading colorwork charts, trapping floats, kfb, kfbf, m1r and m1l increases, k2tog, p2tog and ssk decreases, i-cord.

Diameter: Approximately 8-12 in [20.3-25.4 cm].

Height: Approximately 8-12 in [20.3-25.4 cm], depending on motif chosen.

Diameter and height will vary depending on amount of fiberfill used.

Yarn:  About 200 yds [183 m] each of two contrasting colors worsted weight yarn.

Scrap yarn (optional) in green or brown for tendrils.  10 yds should be more than enough to make 1 large tendril.

Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) double pointed needles and 16 in. circular needles.

Gauge:   33 ½ sts and 35 rnds = 4" [10 cm] in charted pattern stitch, after blocking.  This pattern is worked at a tighter gauge than normal so the fiberfill does not show through fabric.

Other Materials: Stitch markers if desired, small tapestry needle, tape measure, 1 bag  (16 oz.) polyester fiberfill (you will not need the entire bag), large button (optional).  Button shown is from oneofakindbuttons.com and measures about 1 3/8 in. [about 4 cm].
