In the aftermath of a personal decision, Shea O’Byrne has retreated to Melbourne, combining her career as a vet nurse to study counselling in pregnancy loss—a pain she understands all too well. The move leads Shea to Professor Eliza Westfield and a new friend, Heath, whose gentle persistence begins to crack the walls around Shea’s heart.

When her father’s genealogical research uncovers a long-buried secret, and delves deeper into the life of Catherine O’Byrne—Samuel’s independent daughter, whose story eerily mirrors Shea’s—past and present collide in unexpected ways.

When Shea’s former lover follows her to Wentworth, bringing with him the painful secret she’s kept from everyone, she must finally confront the choices that have shaped her life. Shea must decide if some secrets are worth keeping—and if the O’Byrne family legacy of resilience and love lives on in her.

Spanning two centuries of family history, heartbreak, and healing, Beneath Still Waters continues the sweeping saga of the O’Byrne family, where every discovery on the banks of the Darling River reveals that our most personal struggles often echo through generations.

A Wonderful Book

I absolutely loved it. The way the early history is woven into present day happenings in this excellent set is masterful and Annie Seaton is showing what a versatile author she is with this historical series. Beautifully and sensitively written with serious subject areas, I found this, the fourth book in the Daughters of the Darling series wonderful. Annie's loyal followers will love it. The books definitely need to be read in order otherwise you'd miss a lot - the books would make sense in any order but the historical aspects would be lost to a large degree and the historical aspect is wonderful.

Beneath Still Waters

I have just finished the book. Just a lovely story that was easy to read, it was one of those that you can't put down type.
I have really enjoyed the whole series and can't wait till the next one comes out next year. I like the way this series has taken you thru each daughter and you read about how each daughter gets on in life and brings in their background story mingled with their parents.
