Mini Pops Cowl

This cozy scrappy cowl is made up of fun bobbles that are simple to crochet…I kept wanting to do one more row! It is perfect as an advent project or for mini skein sets or stash busting leftovers! The pattern is easy to memorize, and there are no ends to weave in because they can be knotted and left inside! There is a single stranded and a thicker double stranded version, and the length and width are adaptable. I am going to try a pillow version with this year’s advent minis!

Pattern Notes:

I recommend reading the whole pattern through at the start. This pattern is crocheted in the round. It is adaptable for length and can be made as a single loop cowl (size short) or long enough to wrap double (size long). Finished size is 9 in/23 cm wide and the short version is 28 in/71 cm long and the long version is 60 in/152 cm long. IMPORTANT NOTE: the double stranded cowl is VERY thick, it is a true wind blocker, so be aware of that when choosing a version to make.

MATERIALS:

SINGLE STRANDED COWL:

SHORT: 400-420 grams/1600-1680 yards/1463-1536 metres total (20 twenty g minis or 80 five g minis)

LONG: 800-840 grams/3200-3360 yards/2926-3072 metres total (40 twenty g minis or 160 five g minis)

* each pattern stripe uses 4-5 grams of yarn*

2.75 mm crochet hook or size that achieves the gauge you prefer (see note in gauge box)

Darning needle

DOUBLE STRANDED COWL:

SHORT: 450-480 grams/1800-1920 yards/1646-1752 metres total (24 twenty g minis or 96 five g minis)

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A LONG DOUBLE STRANDED COWL, IT WOULD BE SUPER HEAVY!

*each pattern stripe uses 9 grams of yarn *

4 mm crochet hook or size that achieves the gauge you prefer (see note in gauge box)

Darning needle
