Candace indulges your hankering for a gorgeous self-striping or ombre yarn, giving that special colourway room to shine on the front and sleeves – and letting it pop on the back in a jazzy rectangle or panel against a solid (or semi-solid) ground.
Cute, colourful, and classic, Candace will be a welcome addition to any kid’s wardrobe
This cardigan is worked bottom up, in pieces and seamed. It has modified set-in sleeves with a short sleeve cap. Shoulders are joined using three-needle bind off. Two options are included for the decorative detail worked on the back using intarsia. Stitches are picked up along the front edges and neckline and a rolled, Reverse Stocking Stitch edging is worked.
This knitting pattern includes written instructions, a colour chart for intarsia stitch pattern, detailed yardage requirements for each intarsia bobbin/section, instructions for left or right front button placement, a schematic with measurements, and thoughtful details.

Substitution Notes
Choose a fingering weight/4-ply yarn with easy care instructions. Superwash wool and sock yarns (whether wool or cotton blends) will work wonderfully. The self-patterning yarn may be substituted with a solid colour, a variegated yarn or a gradient yarn. Yarn suggested is one of many options.
Techniques
Working intarsia from written instructions, increases/decreases, three needle bind off, basic modified set-in sleeve sweater construction, worked flat, bottom up, seaming, picking up stitches, buttonholes and sewing on buttons.
