Over the Line - The Counties League

Six clubs from the English counties, from the harbour at Saltmouth to the wind on Top Field. Home and away, ten rounds, then the top four play for the title.

Six clubs, ready to play. Champions Saltmouth, runners-up Hartleford, the hop-town Brewers of Brackenbury, Market Elmsley with the best defence in the league, Abbots Wick and the best boot in the league, and promoted Highmoor. Every club is rated on attack, defence and kicking, with its ground, its nickname and a line on how it plays.

Every try has a name on it. Each club comes with a named match-day 23 and a goal-kicker. After a try, roll for who scored it. After a card, roll for who was sent to the bin. Keep a tally of the season's tries and find your top try-scorer.

The season. Ten rounds of fixtures, home and away. A league table with try and losing bonus points, top-four play-offs with a final at a neutral ground, and a roll of honour for the seasons to come. At the end of each season the clubs change a little, so next year is a different league.

The pitch. A full-page rugby pitch in colour and in black and white, for a token on the ball if you want to follow play.
