The inspiration for Repeating History was taken from Medieval, Islamic patterns found in 12th Century textiles and fabrics.

Inspiration for the central motif is taken from a fragment of silk fabric, from 12th century Spain, said to be introduced by the Moors, possibly the Amazigh people of North Africa. This motif can be seen in decoration throughout the Islamic world, and beyond. Quite often seen incorporated in many European designs.

The motifs at the top and bottom borders are re-fashioned from a knitted stocking with Arabic text. The stocking is purported to be circa. 11th-15th Century Spain.

Repeating History is a nod to those who have gone before.
