SEL Connection Lab

Building connection, community, and confidence—one activity at a time.

Upstander Activities Bundle

Looking for engaging bullying prevention activities that teach students what it actually means to be an upstander? Skip the lecture. Skip the worksheet. Skip another slideshow telling students to “be kind.”

This Upstander Activities Bundle includes THREE interactive, game based resources designed to get middle school students talking, making decisions, practicing responses, and thinking about what they can actually do when they see bullying, exclusion, conflict, or someone being treated unfairly.

Perfect for Bullying Prevention Month, October SEL lessons, advisory, school counseling, health class, homeroom, morning meeting, character education, and classroom community building.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

1. Upstander Trivia Challenge - A Google Slides Game

Turn bullying prevention into a fast paced trivia competition!

Students work through questions and scenarios related to bullying, bystander behavior, upstander choices, empathy, inclusion, conflict, and getting help.

2. Who Wants to Be an Upstander?

A game show style PowerPoint game that gets students thinking through realistic social situations and deciding how an upstander could respond.

Students work through questions and scenarios while discussing choices, consequences, and safe ways to support others. The class competes together to reach Unity Champions.

⚠️ This game MUST be used in Microsoft PowerPoint (desktop version).

It will NOT function properly in Google Slides.

The clickable links, animations, and sound effects are designed specifically for PowerPoint and will not operate correctly if uploaded to Google Drive.

Please ensure you are using PowerPoint before purchasing.

3. Take a Stand! The Upstander Card Grab Game

A fast paced, interactive card game inspired by the excitement of classic card grabbing games. Students collect matching Action Cards and race to grab a Stand Token while practicing different ways to respond when someone is being bullied, excluded, or treated unfairly.

Students practice specific upstander actions such as:

• Speak Up Assertively

• Get Help

• Find a Trusted Adult

• Support the Person

• Invite Someone In

• Distract

• Change the Subject

• Use Humor Carefully

• Anonymous Reporting
