The Tall Man is a complete 5E Halloween adventure for 2-3 players, designed to run in 2-3 hours with zero preparation. A week after the destruction of Valdrus the Pale, the necrotic shockwave that escaped the crypt has been traveling north along old ley lines — and it has found something to inhabit. An ancient road-guardian scarecrow, bound to a post at the edge of a farming settlement by hedge magic generations ago, has had its protective binding inverted. It is consuming the surrounding wheat fields. It is building itself. By the time players arrive in Dunhall, it is one hundred feet tall and still rising.

Players must weaken its structure from outside, enter through a cracked knee joint, climb through a living dungeon of compacted grain and animating constructs, reach the original scarecrow at its heart, and sever the post that anchors the whole thing together — then escape before a hundred feet of ancient hedge magic comes down on top of them. A woman named Maren is already there when they arrive. She knows too much. She pays well. She walks into the mist at the end with the scarecrow's head under her arm, and the two figures waiting for her at the treeline are not quite what they seem.
