Sacrosanct: Volume 1
Welcome to Sacrosanct, a modern gothic haven where the present day collides with a nostalgic, nocturnal loop. A night club where the energy of the 1980s and 1990s shows in every corner of the space, shaping the venue’s atmosphere and housing in every kind of goth looking for a place to dance and to belong.
In the old quarter sits a grand brick building that holds a world of its own. Inside Sacrosanct, goths of every kind move across checkered floors, flanked by burnt crimson walls and a striking central spiral staircase. It's an old-style sanctuary where the posters of post-punk and darkwave legends line the walls, the polished mahogany bar wielding bottles that glimmer like low-watt stars.
In this debut volume of episodic literary erotic fiction, Sacrosanct itself is the main character. It follows a cast and moves with the drifting, explorative pace of a late-night radio show. These ten episodes trace the shifting loyalties, erotic chemistry, and connections that ignite when the lights go down (or come up.)
At the center of this mad sanctuary is Orlando, the eccentric, Mad Hatter-esque owner chasing a beautiful dream, and Jade, the impossibly perfect, razor-sharp matriarch who holds both the club’s purse strings and Orlando’s leash. But when a brush with fate forces Orlando to re-examine his devotion to the timeless, starlet-eyed Alison, the gossamer threads of power start to shift.
Curating the night are the faces behind the smoke and mirrors:
The Sanctuary Keepers: Like Troy, the fiercely loyal bartender who is the club's pillar of sanity, and Viktor, the imposing ex-military security chief guarding the door—and guarding his growing connection to a fast-becoming regular named Zoe.
The Sonic Architects: Driven by the toxic, model-gorgeous entitlement of DJ Rain and the pure, post-punk nostalgia of DJ Merlot, spinning the soundtrack to everyone’s bad decisions.
The Creators: From Lilian, the steampunk event coordinator scheming in Jade’s shadow, and Winter, the whimsical, pastel-fae visual designer, to Ziggy—the offensively pretty, hyper-chaotic club promoter brought in to set the venue on fire.
Swirling around them are the patrons—like Zoe, the grunge princess; Nina, the resident gossipmonger; and Ella, the fashion designer. Together with a larger myriad of dreamers, lovers, and the lost, they are all looking for a place to belong before the sun comes up.
While each episode is filled with sex and heat, these intimate collisions are what drive the story and carve the characters. It is an evolving ecosystem of twenty different souls, all drifting toward the sweltering heat of the 4th of July. As Sacrosanct packs the house for the biggest bash of the summer—headlined by a rising band on the cusp of national fame—Jade prepares to play her final, ruthless hand.
As the bass thumps and new faces emerge, Volume 1 reaches a breathless crossroads where the music might go on, but the dynamic will never be the same.
