HEAVEN – Ouranos by Bro H

Verse 1 Ouranos—the Greek word heaven— Carries shamayim through: The sky above, the governing height, The realm God governs from. It never changes into a promise That the righteous dead go there; A word that names the throne above Does not make heaven man’s inheritance. Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek,” Then named what they receive: “They shall inherit the earth”— If we are willing to believe. The poor in spirit receive the kingdom; The meek receive the land. Neither blessing sends the righteous To a mansion in the sky. Verse 2 Matthew calls it “kingdom of heaven”— But hear what the kingdom means: Basileia means a reign, a kingship, The active rule and authority of the King. It does not describe a country Located somewhere in the sky. It is God’s own rule from heaven Being established here on earth below. The kingdom is of heaven— Heavenly in origin, character, and law. Its government and authority Come from the King above. But those made kings and priests to God Are not assigned the clouds: “You have made them kings and priests, And they shall reign upon the earth.” Chorus Not a kingdom in heaven— The kingdom of heaven: From the throne where the King now reigns To the earth that He has given. The reward is kept above; The King brings it when He comes. Heaven holds the government; On earth His will is done. Verse 3 “Great is your reward in heaven”— Safe within the royal store. “An inheritance reserved in heaven”— Undefiled and incorruptible. Treasure held within a vault Does not make the vault your home; An inheritance preserved above Comes to the heirs below. “Behold, I come—and My reward Is with Me,” says the King. Isaiah said salvation comes With His reward before Him. What heaven guards is not abandoned; What God reserves is not lost. The King descends and brings with Him What faithfulness has cost. Bridge The Father’s house has many Settled, abiding places. Monay speaks of abiding; Topos—a place prepared. But Jesus gives the direction: “I will come again.” He does not promise our ascent; He promises His return. Chorus Not a kingdom in heaven— The kingdom of heaven: From the throne where the King now reigns To the earth that He has given. The treasure waits above; The King brings it when He comes. Heaven holds the inheritance; On earth the heirs receive it as sons. Verse 4 “The kingdom of heaven suffers violence; The violent seize it by force.” If “kingdom of heaven” meant the sky, The sentence would have no sense. But John was held in Herod’s prison; The kingdom’s herald stood in chains. Earthly rulers fought an earthly reign That threatened their command. Harpadzo means to seize or snatch— The famous “rapture” word. But here the enemies of the kingdom Seize and violently suppress it. You cannot storm the courts of heaven Or imprison heaven’s throne; But men can strike His earthly kingdom— They killed the prophets, crucified the King, and hunted down His own. Verse 5 “No man has ascended into heaven”— Hear the witness Jesus gave. Peter said that David had not ascended, Though David filled a grave. The angels asked the watching men, “Why stand gazing toward the sky?” The same King taken into heaven Will return in the same manner. Heaven must receive and hold the Christ Until restoration’s time. Then the Lord Himself descends With the trumpet and command. His people rise to meet the King— The welcome of the royal Lord— And nowhere does the passage say He turns and takes them back to heaven. Verse 6 Haggai said, “I’ll shake the heavens; I’ll shake the earth as well,” Then explained the shaking plainly: “I’ll overthrow the thrones of kingdoms.” Hebrews says a kingdom remains When shaken orders fall— Not an empty earth abandoned, But a reign that cannot move. Then John beheld the holy city Descending out of heaven. The tabernacle of God came down; His dwelling stood with men. The Bible ends the way it moved From Genesis all through: God’s voice, God’s bread, God’s Spirit, God’s city and God’s King—come down. Final Chorus Not a kingdom in heaven— The kingdom of heaven: From the throne where the King now reigns To the earth that He has given. The city comes, the King comes, The reward comes with the Son. Heaven holds the government; On earth His will is done.
