Hopewell Suite is a suite of seven movements for trumpet ensemble. Hopewell is a farm in Komga, South Africa, where Mr. Lewis stays when he and his wife visit the area. All of the themes from the suite are inspired by his trip to South Africa in 2016.
Hopewell Suite is Mr. Lewis' most major work for trumpet ensemble composition to date. The piece is 573 measures long and a public performance of the complete work lasts almost thirty minutes. The skill level is not as extreme as Mr. Lewis' other major works, which tend to be very difficult. Hopewell suite is great for advanced high school students or early college. It is a very melodic piece that makes rhythmic sense. We will add video when it is done.
