If you have any of these questions (or more), then The Electric Boats Book is for you.

What's a kilowatt?
Is it the same as a horsepower?
What do they mean by 'kilowatt hour'?
How long wil it take me to 'earn back' the money invested in a boat's battery
How do I know if a battery is big enough?
How fast can electric boats go?
How far can they go?
How do you charge them?

Written by Jeff Butler, Editor/Publisher of Plugboats.com, The Electric Boats Book will give you everything you need to know about 'going electric', both basic and in depth information.

It is the only book with all the latest information about electric boats and boating.

And it costs only $5 (but you can purchase it with any currency).

It is comprehensive without being loaded with jargon, and includes easily understood explanations and illustrations of electric motors, batteries, and the concepts behind analyzing range and power.

It starts with '5 reasons you might want an electric boat' and '5 questions you might ask about electric boats' and ends with the interactive Plugboats Cost Calculator spreadsheet that you can use to compare the operating costs of an electric boat motor with a fossil fuel motor of comparable size.

In between there are 80+ pages of information to help you understand electric propulsion and how it is the wave of the future.

When you purchase The Electric Boats Book, you will receive all updates at no extra charge - and there will be lots of updates as new products like improved batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, charging stations and more come on the market.

Check the 'Preview' to see a sample of the kinds of information you will find in The Electric Boats Book.

You will get a PDF (2MB) file

Helpful basic information

The book does a good job of explaining the basic physics. The explanaitons of the advantages of electric systemotors is overdone in that it is repetitive. What is lacking is any comparison or user experience with the various options for powering a boat. I realize this informaiton would be hard to come by as there has not been much experience out there. I have been using an Electric Yacht system for several years and I am about to junk it. The company seems to be a one man operation, Scott McMillan, no doubt a talented engineer, but is seems to me he tricked out the system to the point hat it has too many vulnerabilities for failure. Mine has failed several times to the point where McMillan has stopped answering my emails. I am considering an Elco to replace it, only because the company has been around for a long time and the others all appear to be imports. I would really like to be able to read about the experience of other users.

Disappointing

Book is for boat designers. Not for someone like me who is thinking of buying an electric boat.
