The Measure He Used

He came to preach accountability. He never expected to face his own.

Pastor Sam Oglesbee believes people need hard truths. When he steps behind the pulpit at Maple Street Shelter, he tells the residents their choices brought them there—without knowing their stories.

A father challenges him. The shelter director dismisses him. Sam leaves convinced that people have rejected a message they needed to hear.

Then his sermon finds an audience online.

Praise for his boldness strengthens his certainty, but questions from others become harder to dismiss. Behind the labels he used are families, workers, and people struggling to rebuild their lives. Listening to them could mean admitting that the harm began with him.

The Measure He Used by Mia Bills is thought-provoking Christian fiction about spiritual pride, public humiliation, repentance, and the patient work of rebuilding trust.

Can a man who demands humility from others find the courage to practice it himself?
