The Perfect Sock

I’m sure everyone has their own idea of the “perfect” vanilla sock - well this is mine. After much trial and error I think this has the ideal mix of toes, heels and cuffs. I hope you’ll agree!

This toe-up pattern includes a short-row heel, with photo tutorial.

Sizes - measured around midfoot
  • Small - 6.5”/16.5cm unstretched, 8”/20.25cm stretched
  • Medium - 8”/20.25cm unstretched, 10”/25.5cm stretched
  • Large - 9”/22.75cm unstretched, 11”/28cm stretched
Gauge
32 sts and 44 rounds = 4" (10cm) in stocking stitch in the round

Yarn Requirements
100g/400m 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn.  Any that gives gauge should be suitable. 

Needles and Notions
  • 2.5mm (US1.5) circular needles, or dpns
  • stitch markers
  • tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
