Open E Tuning: A Player's Guide

Open E gives you a full major chord under a straight slide, and that's what this guide is built around. It isn't a chord dictionary.

It covers getting into the tuning and what it does to your neck, the neck as a chord lookup table, how to work the bar, and the blues moves that get minor-sounding lines out of a major tuning. There are 18 playable shapes, 12 full-neck chord maps and 8 scale maps, all marked in intervals so they work in any key, plus three starter phrases in tab.

One thing most Open E guides won't tell you: raising three strings isn't great for every guitar. The guide explains why I'd often use Open D with a capo at 2 instead. Every shape in this guide works there unchanged.
