When sunlight filters through water to the river rock below, there is an enchanting dance of form and color.  So too does this simple slip-stitch pattern showcase the play of color across texture.  Solid, variegated and even self-striping yarns shine in these beautiful mitts. 

Skills Needed:  Working in the round; casting on; knitting through the back loop; yarn overs; slipping stitches; picking up stitches.

Sizes:  Women’s Small/Medium, (Large).  Pattern is worked with negative ease for a snug fit.

Actual Hand Size:  6.5–7.5 in. (8–8.5 in.) [16.5 -19.1 cm (20.3-21.6)]

Finished Circumference:  6 (7) in. [15.2 (17.8) cm].

Finished Length:  approx. 6 (6) in. [15.2 (15.2) cm]. 

Yarn:  Approximately 200 yds. (183 meters) sock yarn.

Needles:  1 set US size 5 [3.75 mm] (or size needed to obtain gauge) DPNs or appropriate needles for your preferred style of knitting in the round. 

Gauge:   24 sts and 44 rows = 4" [10 cm] in charted pattern stitch. 

Other Materials:  Stitch markers, tapestry needle.
