Solo Beret - PDF knitting pattern

The Solo Beret is a quick knit and the perfect project for practising new skills. If you’ve not made a sideways knit Hat before, this would be a great first project!

With this Hat you’ll practice provisionally casting on, short rows and grafting. Download links for the necessary skills are included within the pattern, ensuring you get the help you need to hone your new skills and finish your Hat.

And with it’s sideways construction and cosy garter stitch, the Solo Beret is ideal for handspun or variegated yarns!

The pattern is provided in written format and includes 4 sizes, covering babies to large adults. Should you wish, you can also adjust your gauge for an even greater range of sizes.

Yarn

97 (126, 149, 184) yd/88 (115, 136, 168) m

Chunky weight, single or plied yarn; solid, semi-solid or variegated yarns.

Needles & Notions

Pair 5.5mm/UK5/US9 straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge

5.5mm crochet hook

Approx. 2yd/2m waste yarn

Fit is determined by row gauge – if your gauge differs, simply adjust your needle size or yarn.

Gauge

17 sts x 26 rows to 4in/10cm on 5.5mm needles over Stocking St.

16 sts x 32 rows to 4in/10cm on 5.5mm needles over Garter St.

Sizes

To fit size: 15 (19, 22, 25) in/ 38 (48.25, 56, 63.5) cm

Finished size: 12 (15, 18, 21) in/ 30.5 (38, 45.75, 53.25) cm
