Don’t Get Around Much Anymore
A carefree and elegant performance originally from Fats' V-disc recording session in 1943 but never released and so it remained in obscurity as part of the highly rare Ristic LP recordings created by musician, sound engineer and vintage jazz enthusiast, John R.T. Davies. Luckily it is readily available now.
Surprisingly, this solo occurs after a gentle, introspective rendition of Edward MacDowell's To A Wild Rose. Fats returns to and ultimately ends the performance with the MacDowell tune after these Ellington musings, hence my edited ending.
