MINI MONSTER CAL 2026 - WERE-WEOUF - The Howling Humpty of Hookanory!

A Little Bit About This Design

This year's Mini Monster CAL is inspired by the classic legend of the Werewolf, half man, half wolf, it is said he becomes the wolf on the full moon but as usual my story is a little more quirky and a little more gentle!

Hookanory is a land inhabited by Humpty characters from far and wide so all my stories always have an eggy-twist, full of fun, a little humour and puns with a heartwarming message to cheer your day!

In this story-rhyme a mid-life crisis of confidence and personal style has major side effects and causes terrible upset and misunderstanding to all parties, until the village Woodcutt-egg braves the forest and gives the Were-weouf a way back and a chance at new life!

I hope you enjoy this year’s story-rhyme, it might be my silliest yet!

PATTERN NOTES

THIS PATTERN IS WRITTEN IN U.S. TERMS  

However a list of abbreviations and conversions to UK Terms has been supplied.

This pattern is worked in rounds using the continuous spiral amigurumi technique, in DK yarn and using a 3mm hook. However you could use any weight yarn, you will just need to match the hook size with that recommended by the yarn ball band and be aware that this will affect the size of the finished outcome.

Decreases are worked in the invisible decrease method whereby the FLO of 2 stitches are worked together as one stitch. Increases are worked 2 stitches into one stitch hole. Colour changes are made in the last YO of the previous colour and unused yarn is carried along the row inside the stitches, or across the back as floats.

This design uses a small amount of colourwork to create the wolfs beard, some spike stitches to blend colours on the legs and paws and some tufting and some brushing required to create the effect of fur.

DK Yarn in chosen colour – Total required: approx. 150-165m (160-180yds)

GAUGE

24 sts x 28 rows = 10x10cm (4x4in) over sc using a 3mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
