_____________

The Faceted Cowl features four colours of cables woven together, forming an argyle-like motif. The cowl is written in two sizes and is adjustable; Version A is deep and has a smaller circumference; Version B is long and skinny – ideal for wrapping twice around your neck.

You will simultaneously create a garter stitch layer and a layer of interwoven cables. The project is worked entirely with a marl, 2 yarns held together, creating a squishy yet drapey fabric.

The motif magically emerges as you repeat the small cable pattern. The colourwork design is established in the setup rounds and is worked without bobbins or floats.

Finished Sizes: Version A: 45 in/ 114 cm circumference, 5.5 in/ 14 cm height; Version B: 22 in/ 56 cm circumference, 10.5 in/ 27 cm height

Yarn: four colours of fingering weight yarn

Yarn Usage for either version: 210 yd/ 194 m of MC1 & MC2; 180 yd/ 164 m of CC1 & CC2

Gauge: 20 sts/ 30 rows to 4 in/ 10 cm in stockinette worked flat with yarns held double

Needles: 4.5 mm/ US 7 circular needles; Length for Version A: 32 in/ 80 cm; Version B:16 in/ 40 cm

Skills: This is an advanced project that combines skills from other techniques. Experience with Two-Colour Two-Pass Woven Knitting is recommended. Experience using a marl to create single-coloured cables, used in Fission Knitting or One-Pass Woven Knitting, is also helpful. See recommended introductory patterns.
