Ah, my very first pattern. Perforate is a simple design, but this makes it an easy to style classic. Holding strands double is a cheeky way to work up a thickier, loftier cowl, while allowing you to use the leftovers to make some matching mitts.

Yarn: fingering + fingering, 800 yards (732 metres)
Needles: 4mm
Sizing: one size
Techniques: cast on (long tail); bind off (Elizabeth Zimmerman's Better Bind Off); knitting in the round; lace; yarn held double
