Laetus

Laetus is a crescent shawl in all-over lace. It uses less than 400 yards of yarn - perfect for that single luxury skein!

The delicate points and scallops of the border give way to pretty motifs and subtle texture on the body.

The shawl is worked bottom-up without short rows, so there isn't any serious counting! There is no lace shaping on WS rows either, so it's a relaxing knit.

It works up fast - and is very addictive with rows that become shorter and shorter as you reach the top.

Laetus has long and elegant tips into which the lace pattern continues. However, if you'd prefer a shawl shape with shorter tips, instructions are given in the pattern on how to knit that too.

The pattern is both written and charted.

Many thanks to my wonderful testers on Ravelry- kesalm, ReeMarieKnits, siropdorgeat, frkstrik - some of their shawls are shown here.

Laetus means both "joyful" and "successful" in Latin.
Designing this shawl made me very happy on several counts - right from the beautiful yarn with great stitch definition, to a gratifying new-to-me shawl shaping technique.

Hope it brings you delight too!
