Ophthalmic Theatre Nurse Upskill Training Program - Clinical Skills Competency Assessment
The Clinical Skills Competency Assessment support the journey of the Ophthalmic Nurse’s theory, knowledge and application of evidence based clinical skills. The assessment is underpinned by competencies and professional practice associated with:
- Practices Standards for Ophthalmic Nurses in Australia (AONANC 2018)
- The New ACORNStandards: Volume2 2023 Professional Practice Standards For Perioperative Nurses (PPSPN )and Practice Standards for Ophthalmic Nurses in Australia
(ACORN 2023; AONANC 2018).
The assessment considers the general clinical skills competency required for a nurse working in the operating theatre (OT) in Section A. Section B reflects the clinical skills competency supporting the specialist area of ophthalmology OT nursing, although the criteria may lend itself to general or other OT specialties.
