In the year 1886 there was published a little book written by me entitled “A Year Among the Bees.”
In 1903 it was enlarged and appeared under the title “Forty Years Among the Bees.” In preparation for the present edition I undertook the revision with little thought of the number of changes to he made or the number of pages to be added in order to bring it fully up to date (about one-eighth being new matter), but it is hoped that the changes and additions may make it of more value to the reader. As I began beekeeping in 1861, fifty years ago, the present name seems appropriate.
