Program Note:

Symphonic poem for wind band portraying episodes from the grand history of Portugal. Given the strong symbolic nature of this history, the composition intentionally incorporates the same sense of symbolism. To this end, excerpts from the current Portuguese National Anthem, among other elements, are used as generative motives. This work was awarded First Prize at the 4th Edition of the Wind Orchestra Composition Competition, Army Symphonic Band – INATEL.
