• Teen can use clear verbal requests to ask for something they need in at least 3 different situations

• Teen can ask for help using a full sentence (rather than pointing, pulling, or going silent)

• Teen demonstrates an understanding that different situations call for different levels of formality

• Teen attempts verbal communication instead of non-verbal alternatives at least once daily

• Teen can identify 3+ situations where using words to ask helped them get what they needed
