These 100 Beginners Drum Beats can be used in drum lessons by drum teachers or drummers can self learn these. At least 65% of these are absolute essential drum beats to learn and the rest are beats that you may not have otherwise come across elsewhere especially if you are mostly only learning rock and pop beats. The styles of drum beats in this collection include rock, pop, funk, soul, blues, jazz, reggae, musical theatre.
The difficulty levels range from Grade 0-5 and the content does at points exceed the usual ‘beginner’ level, especially towards the end in the 101-110 bonus beats. However, within reason and depending on the pupil/drummer, I think it's quite fun for beginners to try some of these beats even if they are only at Grade 1 or 2 level because they are possible to play at a slow speed and can be something to work towards rather than playing easy beats all of the time.
That being said, Grade 8+ drummers could also benefit from playing any of these beats with precision and finesse and using them as a basis to develop other ideas or incorporate these in their playing. Chances are these drummers will be familiar with all of these beats though, but the point is that you’ll never stop needing to know these beats, so whilst they are beginner drum beats, you’ll carry them forward with you.
