Car Wash and Auto Detailing Job Skills Task Cards: Vacuuming, Chemical Safety, Ages 14 to 21
These car wash and auto detailing job skills task cards teach vacuuming, towel drying, window and dashboard cleaning, and floor mats, with conservative chemical safety, customer scripts, and a check your work checklist for every car.
Why I made this: Car washes hire a lot of young workers, and the job is a good fit for students who like hands on work they can see finished. The two things I worry about are chemicals and moving cars, so this set is careful about both: read the label, never mix products, wear the gear, and stay out of the tunnel. It also adds customer scripts and a check your work list, because a car wash job is judged by the customer at the end.
What’s included (16 pages):
• A teacher page with three levels and a 2 week plan
• A job snapshot: job titles, what a shift looks like, and what employers look for
• 16 vocabulary cards and a matching worksheet
• 5 task sequence cards and put it in order worksheets
• 8 safety rules and a 10 item safe or unsafe sort
• 12 "What would you do?" scenario cards and a response planner
• An on the job checklist with student and supervisor ratings

• A check your work checklist for the inside, outside, and last walk around
• An answer key with possible responses for every scenario
• A data sheet with a prompt level key
• Blank cards for your own job site
How I use it: I teach the vocabulary and job snapshot first, model each task sequence and have students act it out, then use the scenario cards for role play a few at a time. Before a job site visit, students set goals on the on the job checklist, and I take data on the data sheet.
Who it is for: Special education, transition, life skills, and vocational teachers in grades 6 to 12 and 18 to 21 programs, job coaches, and paras. Best for high school and 18 to 21, or with close adult supervision. Only trained staff guide cars. Students stay clear of the tunnel, conveyor, and moving vehicles.

How this is different: No other Job Site Task Cards set covers car wash or detailing work. It uses the same layout as the rest of the series and adds customer scripts and a check your work checklist. Custodial covers restrooms and mopping; this set covers vacuuming, towel drying, windows, and floor mats, with its own chemical and vehicle safety rules.
