Based on the popular History and Heritage Twitter (now X) and Bluesky sites curated by writer and researcher John Heywood who over the years has gained a large number of followers from across the world. 

John has posted thousands of little nuggets bringing the region’s past to life. The first of these “Twitter Treasure” compilations concentrates on the Yorkshire coast and its fascinating history. This is a subject John knows well following the success of his 2018 book “Beside the Seaside” which told the story of the rise of Yorkshire’s seaside resorts. Further eBooks looking at the county’s churches, castles ands abbeys and a further one on its industrial past are also planned.

The books are fully illustrated and are perfect for dipping in and out of. They make ideal gifts for relatives and friends who have left the area. They are entertaining and fully illustrated but are also in bite size chunks, giving a fascinating insight into Yorkshire’s past.

For those who don’t know everything tis available on a pay-what-you-can basis, with no minimum amount. Donations are always welcome, but I believe personal circumstances should never be a barrier to exploring history and heritage. In this way everyone can still enjoy the stories of Yorkshire’s past.
