Inspired by streaks of purple lightning shooting through a dark sky, this shawl is worked in an asymmetric chevron pattern in two colors. The irregular contrast color stripes are perfect for showing off a bright or highly variegated yarn, or that special leftover skein. The simple lace pattern will make the knitting go as fast as lightning!

Notes
The shawl begins with an i-cord cast-on, which continues into the faux i-cord edge at the top of the shawl. Stitches are picked up from the edge of the i-cord and worked in a chevron pattern with increases at the beginning of every RS row. Contrast color stripes are worked in garter stitch and both colors are carried up the side of the work when not in use. The shawl is finished with several rows of garter stitch in the contrast color.
When changing colors do not cut yarn, rather, carry the color not in use up the side of the work, twisting it around the working yarn at the beginning of the rows.
