As a child, I spent hours in mesmerized wonder,

peering through a kaleidoscope and marveling at

its ever-changing play of light, shapes, and

colors. Kaleidos shawl attempts to translate that

experience into knitting, through a playful

exploration of color and form.

The name Kaleidos comes from the Ancient

Greek roots:

Kalos – beauty

Eidos – that which is seen: form, shape

Together, they evoke the idea of “beautiful

forms.”

PATTERN NOTES

♡ Kaleidos is a two-color shawl worked in slipped stitches, also known as mosaic knitting. This technique uses only one color per row, making it a relatively approachable way to explore colorwork.

♡ The shawl construction begins at one tip with just a few cast-on stitches and grows through increases along one edge while working the mosaic motifs.

♡ Increases are done on the RS rows.

♡ The pattern incorporates 2-stitch slip stitch edging throughout.

♡ Written as well as charted instructions are provided.

♡ Charts show only RS rows.

♡ A row tracker (tracks RS only) is provided at the end of the pattern.
