SYLLABLE DIVISION CHART - 6 PRIMARY DIVISION PATTERNS
SYLLABLE DIVISION
Description:
I created an engaging and original syllable division chart to illustrate the six primary syllable patterns. It features 'Reptile Words,' which follow the same division pattern as 'Rabbit Words,' but with a key difference: in 'Reptile Words,' the vowel sound in the second syllable is affected by a silent 'e,' making the preceding vowel long. Examples include words like 'stampede,' 'tadpole,' and 'invite'.
This animal-themed chart makes learning syllable division fun and memorable. It helps students practice reading two-syllable words and dividing them according to the patterns. This reference is an effective tool for helping learners become more automatic in word decoding. While syllable division patterns may not always align with standard dictionary rules, this chart complements Orton-Gillingham methods and can be used as a supplement to other teaching approaches. Syllable division strategies should be introduced after mastering one-syllable words and the six syllable types.
Features of the Chart:
- File Type: PDF
- Resolution: 300 PPI for high-quality printing
- Standard Size: 8.5x11 inches
