BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
They say that it’s a tale as old as time, and some of the jokes in this script are just as old.
Two princes, born minutes apart. Adam, destined to be king, and Gaston, a life in his shadow.
That is until the evil sorceress Morfina, sets her sights on becoming ruler of the entire world (one kingdom at a time). Prince Adam is having none of it so she focusses on his brother. But how can she get rid of the good prince? Easy. Make him the ugliest creature possible and he will banish himself into isolation. His only hope is that the spell has a get-out clause that the spell will be broken if someone falls in love with him.
Enter the Dubois family. Sisters Berni, Bobby and Belle, and their unlucky merchant father, Maurice. With their fortune lost at sea (thanks to Morfina) they are forced to take lodgings and jobs at Roxies Tavern, were they meet the flamboyant and flirty landlady, the magically bewitched Gaston and the old sea dog Captain Salty McCrab. Fate seems to have plans for Belle and she is destined to somehow meet the illusive Beast (Prince Adam) but Morfina will do anything to stop them meeting, falling in love and ruining her plans of world domination.
The story is flooded with more comedy, intrigue and suspense with the help of narrators Jimmy, Joey and Jewel, Morfina’s evilish sisters, Teal and Tribble, and the Prince/Beasts servants, musically minded maid, Maude and the inappropriately strait-laced butler, Egon.
