A lovely fun shawl to knit with stockinette wings and a lace panel down the centre. This is a great pattern for those new to lace knitting as you are not having to worry about doing any increases or decreases in the lace section, your stitch count in the lace panel never changes so its easy to spot any errors as you go along.

This shawl is named after my Aunt Lida who has always been such a great supporter of my crafting endeavours and as her favourite colour is a lovely deep purple I knew I had to make her a special something as a thank you for all of the support and encouragement she’s given me over the years!

What you will need:

• Yarn: 150g total yarn needed – (366m/400yds per 100g)
o Yarn used for this sample was Primrose Yarn Co, Pearl Base (80/20 Superwash Merino and Silk) in the Orion’s Belt Colourway this base is now discontinued but any fingering weight yarn with a nice drape will work well for this shawl.
o Note if you have 200g of yarn for this project you can make the shawl larger by knitting more repeats of the pattern before moving onto the border and bind off.

• Needles – 4mm (US 6) on Long Cable to accommodate the large number of stitches.

• Notions – 7 Stitch Markers for the lace section of the shawl and to mark your increases. You will need 4 for marking increases and 3 for the lace section.

• Gauge – Gauge is really not too important with this shawl as long as you like the fabric you are getting. As a reference the sample shown had a gauge of 18sts / 4 inches after aggressive blocking.

Finished Size of Shawl:

Approx. 180cm (71 in) on the longest edge & 40cm (16 in) deep.
Please note finished size will vary greatly depending on gauge, how many pattern repeats you knit, and how extensively the shawl is blocked.
