UNIT 1: ALPHABET {PHONICS 4 Reading}

Welcome to Unit 1 of the PHONICS4Reading program! This program is designed to help students go from “learning to read,” to “reading to learn.” This phonics program provides year-long practice through interactive hands-on activities. This is UNIT 1: Alphabet.

What Standards & Skills will be Covered in this Unit?

★Follow letters from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page.

★Recognize and name all upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet.

★Isolate and pronounce the initial letter sounds.

★Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.

★Flash Card Sticks: Flash cards attached to craft sticks that target alphabet sounds and can be used for memory practice and activities.

★Build-It Strips: Strips for “building” alphabet sounds/words.
