Guitar Hacks: Triads and Inversions

Most guitarists learn triads by memorising a different shape for each string set. This book shows you why that's unnecessary — and gives you a faster, more logical approach.

The central idea is the Warp Factor: because every string pair on the guitar is tuned a fourth apart except the G and B strings, what looks like multiple triad shapes across the neck is actually the same shape being distorted by the tuning. Once you understand this, you stop memorising disconnected patterns and start seeing a single shape that transforms predictably as you move it across string sets.

This book covers root position, first inversion and second inversion for six triad types — major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2 and sus4 — all built around the Warp Factor principle. All shapes use G as the example tone but are fully movable to any key.

What's inside:

  • The Warp Factor explained — why there's really only one shape per triad type
  • Root position triads across all string sets: major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2, sus4
  • First inversion triads — default shapes provided, you apply the Warp Factor
  • Second inversion triads — same approach, deepening your fretboard understanding
  • Applications for soloing, chord playing, and rhythm parts

Who this is for:

Intermediate guitarists who want a complete triad vocabulary across the neck without the rote memorisation. If the idea of reducing six triad types to a single movable concept sounds appealing, this is the book for you.
